A showcase is a recurring recommendation layer.

A creator store should feel like a useful shelf, not an endless ad break.

An e-commerce showcase lets a creator organize selected products in a platform-approved store, product collection, showcase, or other commerce surface. Instead of asking each video to sell everything, the creator builds a persistent place where viewers can find recommendations by category, routine, problem, budget, or content series.

The money can come from affiliate commission, sales splits, sponsored placement, or a hybrid structure. The enduring value comes from curation: the audience learns that a product appearing in the showcase has a reason to be there.

Showcase model

Creator trust + curated products + useful content + in-app purchase path + valid-order settlement

Platform features, creator eligibility, merchant terms, and commission rules vary. Confirm the current platform process and the exact commercial terms before building the showcase or promising product availability.
1

Showcase vs One-Off Affiliate Link

One-off link

A specific video or livestream directs attention to one product. It is useful when the content is built around a clear product moment.

E-commerce showcase

A persistent collection helps viewers browse trusted products across multiple posts. It can support repeated discovery, but it needs active curation and clear structure.

Use both together: content creates demand and context; the showcase makes the recommendation easy to find again when the viewer is ready to purchase.
2

Set Up the Store Integration

1. Confirm the commerce role

Know whether the creator is an affiliate, storefront curator, live host, merchant partner, or a party in a sponsored campaign. Each route can have different eligibility and settlement rules.

2. Control access

Document account owner, commerce dashboard access, product-management roles, payout recipient, analytics, recovery, and any agency/operator permissions.

3. Connect the purchase path

Test the product-card/storefront path from content to product page. Ensure the audience sees genuine product, price, merchant, and customer-service information.

4. Define commercial reporting

Set the reporting owner and cadence before launch: orders, returns, commission, adjustments, costs, tax, and final payout should be visible to the creator.

3

Curate Product Picks Like a Creator

Choose for audience usefulness

  • A real recurring problem or interest
  • Clear fit with creator expertise and content identity
  • Quality, price, fulfillment, merchant credibility, and service
  • Ability to explain, test, demonstrate, or compare honestly

Organize for decision-making

  • Starter picks, essentials, upgrades, and specialist tools
  • Content-series collections or seasonal routines
  • Price/value, use case, and experience level
  • A small, reviewed assortment rather than duplicate products

Pick rule

If you cannot explain who it is for, why it is useful, and what its limitations are, it is not ready for the showcase.

4

Turn Picks Into Content

Products should appear because the content needs them—not because the storefront needs another SKU. Make the connection visible to the viewer.

Demonstrate

Show how the product fits a real task, routine, recipe, kit, outfit, setup, or comparison. Explain the conditions that matter.

Answer a question

Use comments and search intent to make content that resolves the audience’s actual uncertainty around a product category.

Build a collection

Link related content to a collection: beginner toolkit, travel essentials, studio setup, home routine, seasonal selection, or creator-tested favorites.

5

Sales Splits & Settlement

The creator should see the bridge from sales to payout. Do not accept a single unexplained ‘commission received’ line from a merchant or operator.

NumberWhat it means
Gross merchandise value (GMV)The total value of orders placed. It is not the creator’s earnings and may later change through cancellations or returns.
Eligible order valueThe platform/merchant-defined value used for commission, often after exclusions, discounts, invalid orders, or adjustments.
Creator commissionThe agreed rate or amount earned on attributed valid orders, subject to the specific commerce terms.
Agency / operator shareIf applicable, this should be defined by a transparent agreement: what function it pays for, what revenue it applies to, and what reports are provided.
Net payoutThe amount actually paid after refunds, adjustments, platform/merchant charges where applicable, tax, and any agreed deductions.

Settlement logic

GMV → eligible valid orders → commission basis × rate → adjustments/fees/tax → creator net payout

Merchandise for Discovery

Make selection easy

  • Use clear category names and creator language
  • Lead with a small number of strong picks
  • Keep current price/stock and product details visible
  • Refresh collections when content or season changes

Protect the creator brand

  • Do not accept every merchant placement
  • Separate sponsored placements from genuine recommendations where needed
  • Remove products with recurring quality or service problems
  • Maintain a creator-side record of why products were selected and removed
7

Run the Showcase Weekly

Review product health

Check stock, price, merchant updates, product-page changes, ratings, returns, complaints, and customer-service issues.

Review creator performance

Look beyond GMV: product clicks, saves, comment questions, conversion, refund patterns, repeat buying, and audience sentiment.

Refresh content links

Match new tutorials, videos, or live sessions to the relevant collection and retire stale content/product associations.

Reconcile income

Review orders, valid orders, rate, adjustments, tax, platform/agency share, and payout evidence before reporting creator earnings.

8

Product, Claim & Consumer Controls

Showcase commerce is not only a creator decision. It touches product safety, merchant identity, price and product information, advertising, refunds, personal information, and consumer protection. The exact duties depend on the role performed, but every creator needs a reliable escalation path.

Before listing

  • Verify merchant/product information appropriate to your role
  • Receive approved, supportable product claims
  • Know category restrictions and platform rules
  • Confirm complaint, refund, and customer-service contacts

During operation

  • Do not make false or misleading commercial claims
  • Keep record of the product/page/content used
  • Escalate quality, counterfeit, safety, or customer issues
  • Review partner product-selection and compliance processes
China’s live-commerce rules require stronger product and merchant verification, truthful commercial promotion, and recordkeeping in the live-commerce ecosystem. Even when a showcase is not a livestream, use the same discipline: choose carefully, describe honestly, and know who handles the consumer issue.

Common Showcase Mistakes

  • !Using the showcase as an uncurated catalogue instead of a clear expression of creator taste and audience needs.
  • !Choosing products solely by commission rate, without checking quality, merchant reliability, price, fulfillment, or customer service.
  • !Treating GMV as income and discovering returns or adjustments only after the payout is lower than expected.
  • !Placing products without content context: no explanation, fit, demo, comparison, or audience question answered.
  • !Displaying stale, unavailable, poorly reviewed, or contradictory products long after they stop serving the audience.
  • !Allowing a brand to use the creator’s storefront placement, name, or content as unlimited paid advertising without a separate agreement.
  • !Ignoring product claims, consumer questions, refunds, and complaints because ‘the merchant handles it.’

SAIKO SHOWCASE RULE

Your store should extend creator trust, not rent it out product by product.

Curate a small, useful selection; connect it to real content; make the sales split visible; and remove products that fail your audience—even when they pay a commission.

A creator storefront becomes valuable when viewers know that every product earned its place.
